I, like most people, think that the size on the iPhone 6/6+ should have started at 32gb. This got me thinking whether this would be possible given the way that Apple has set up the pricing on their products. It may be difficult to introduce it to the line up in the future without messing up their pricing structure.
The 5s 32gb model is now only $50 more than the 16gb model suggesting a $50 bump. The difference in price between 64gb and 16gb models is $100, suggesting a jump from 32gb to 64gb would only be $50. This can actually be seen with the iPod Touch where where 32gb costs $249 and 64gb $299.
If they do go 32/64/128 and assuming the entry price is the same at $199 (with contract), then that would suggest 64 cost $249 and 128 $349, which would mess up their current pricing structure of 100 increments for upgrade in storage and make the 2 latter models cheaper than is now. Or they could bump the entry model to $249, keeping the other models at the same price.
Based on this, is releasing a 32gb model possible? Like I said it would be possible, but they would have to change the current pricing structure, which I am not sure if they would. What are your thoughts?
