It works. :)

(as the Google's instructions say, don't use the default GMail setup on the Touch which assumes POP, you need to select 'Other' and manually set up the IMAP access.)

Damn it, I don't have it enabled on my email either.

C'mon Google, quit dropping the ball! :D

They didn't drop the ball, it's a 'beta' product. ;)

I think they are rolling it out over the next few days to everybody.

It's great to have, makes the email app on the Touch much more useful (since I use GMail for my main account.)

IMAP Is now supported in my Gmail account. I successfully set up the mail app in my iPod Touch to work with it.

It's very nice. It's nice to have access to my sent folder, as well as all my labels. I recommend it.

I got it to sync with my touch, but I can't seem to send from it. I've verified the hostname, username, and password, but no luck.

Works great for me - just have to enable Imap in gmail settings. Then follow the directions through gmail help. Earlier today my account hadn't been updated but i checked it tonight and got it to work. This is just what ive been waiting for! It makes the touch mail useable if you are a gmail user.

Now google's got to enable the keyboard in docs :D

I am still impatiently waiting for them to enable IMAP on my gmail account. That will be a wonderful moment...

i have IMAP enable on my gmail account since.... years. so mail app on my touch works just fine first moment i set it up

users who jailbreaked their iPod touch and installed the iphone's mail app will be able to use gmail's IMAP feature.

Just curious but what does Gmails IMAP offer over the POP? I do notice a bunch of different folders in my schools IMAP client. and my Gmail POP only 3. Is that main difference? Since actually its easier for me to use Gmail on the go than my default IMAP since i had to set it up through my cable provider. which is less than reliable. at home it works fine and on campus, but anywhere else not so much. says can't connect to the outgoing mail server.

My gmail account finally got IMAP enabled. it was the happiest moment of my day. Its so much better than the old default gmail on the mail application.
