Is gray screen apple normal startup?

Lately, my macbook has been starting with a gray screen and the apple logo with a status wheel, I just wondered if that was normal?

That's exactly what it should do every time you start it. Was it doing something else before?

That is what it should show when you first turn it on. Was it showing something different before that?

I've heard of Macs booting out of the box with a black screen and a blinking entry line, windows-style. But yeah, a grey screen is normal.

it would start with a blue screen, glad to know it's normal to be gray
