Is Grooveshark legal?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I remember there being a jailbroken app for it and I'm wondering if this service is actually legal. It's definitely better than other ways to acquire music and from the last I heard it is and they have licenses with the music labels for people to upload the music.

Cool, all I do there is just stream music before I go buy it to see if I like it.
