Is Helvetica a standard Windows font?

In Mac OS, it seems that Helvetica is a common-default font (Mail, etc.) and I really like the look of it, etc., but I am wondering if my Windows-using-peers will be able to see the same font when I send over Word/Excel documents in that font? Or will it convert to some other font for them? Is Helvetica installed on Windows by default?

Arial is the closest default font. (And it also is available in OS X. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_typefaces_included_with_Mac_OS_X http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Microsoft_Windows_fonts)
