I tested it with slo-mo against bright backgrounds while adjusting brightness from lowest to highest and did not notice PWM flicker. This is obviously not fool-proof and there could still be flicker, but it's not going to be the same low quality PWM like in the latest iPhones (as this is easily caught with slo-mo).
Funny, when I hear "flicker free", I think back to the motion picture film camera days when I worked on Panaflex, Arriflex and Mitchell ( 16, 35, 70mm) cameras!
Back then we were always looking for that flicker when running 29.97 fps against a 60 HZ lighting background....
I can't use the newer iPhones or Samsungs because PWM and headaches. The iMac is fine. It's not an OLED which is where many of us began having problems.
According to Notebookcheck it doesn't use PWM. Nevertheless the screen irritated my eyes a bit while I tested the 24 inch iMac – maybe because of dithering or something like that, who knows...
