Is iOS 5.1 installed on iPhone 4S if brought from today at Apple store?

Wouldn't really know unless you could find out the manufacture date?
I just picked one up from my carrier and it was made in 01/2012 so that was before 5.1 was released.

Wait for what 8gb in september? To know the software version go to settings----> general---> about---> version
it's anybody's guess as always! however with the sales of the 4S I'd say 5.1 is very likely next jailbreak is estimated 1-2 months and WWDC is June 11-15th officially but no word if the new iPhone will be unveiled there yet, but of course that's what WWDC is famous for.
I think history will repeat itself, the iphone 4 drop $100 and had a 8gb version when 4s came out...
Its a hit or miss at this point. You may be lucky to get 5.0.1 if Apple or any retail store still have the februrary shippment in stock, chances are low but its possible. I purchased an unlocked iphone on 4/8/12, surprisingly it had 5.0.1 installed. Considering that my iphone was made on week 6 of 2012, which is feb.
Don't mind him. He doesn't know what he is talking about. He is assuming that Apple will start to sell a 8GB iPhone 4S along with the new iPhone. But he clearly failed to understand that his logic was epic fail...
I don't doubt that Apple will sell a 8GB 4S. But that has nothing to do with original question lol
I purchased one this week from Apple in UK and it had the older software on as I had to update to 5.1
I was talking to an employee the other day and he said they're really 50/50 on that.. some were fixed on 5.1, some on 5.0.1 D:
what he meant as you fail to see is if its on 5.1 there is no jailbreak available for that as of now and will be out within the next few months. When the new software will be announced... Then the new phone a few months after that. If you don't care about jail breaking(which i do) than don't worry about his post. He's basically saying wait for the new phone if its on 5.1 because of this. Is what i imagine him meaning anyway...
