I cannot up date iPhoto. I was told that I would have to buy it.

A new Mac includes a license for the full version of iPhoto. With new machines that have Lion you will need to setup and AppleID for Lion when you setup the machine. Then login to the App Store app with the same AppleID and you should see the option to download GarageBand. iMovie, and iPhoto from the App Store. Subsequent updates to those apps will come through the App Store and not the old Software Update mechanism.

I'm sorry but i don't understand. I don't need a password to login to the App. store.

Launch the App Store app and on the right side of the page click "sign in." Sign in there with the same AppleID you created when you setup the machine. After doing that you should see the apps available for free.
