I know there was an older version of this in the 50s or 60s. Its pretty cool, though, if you've got the cash ;)

"With this you can have a really good car on the road, and an exciting toy that can tow a water skier, that you can commute to work with, that you can go to St. Tropez with and take two girlfriends,"

What about my 3rd girlfriend?!?

Nice marketing there :D

I read that this morning, and I was thinking "2 girlfriends.... thats not going to be enough!" :D

I saw this on the news yesterday with a Car designer friend, and it's very clever technically, the wheels fold up like the Lotus Esprit's in that Bond film, except the covers don't flip down....

Very clever, particularly when you drive into water and then pretty much zoom off in a couple of seconds...

The design however is a little.. hmmmmmmm though.... :D

Have you been on a "Duck Tour" Ambrose Chapel. I see them on the street all the time. Enjoy there ritual "Quack Quack" at the locals. Often say that I'm to take a tour and then never seem to manage one!

That is too cool! I must get Ms. Moneypenny to have one delivered to my house...

The original "Amphicar" was a german development and build in the 60's (in Berlin). Just saw one this summer here in Berlin on the highway. Looked shiny and brand-new! Amazing...

And when I was little you saw some once in a while on the local rivers and lakes also here in Berlin. I still remember that because it was always something special to spot one. :)

If you want some info in english, you can go here for example:

nah...i'd like to do the water-only part of the tour. but i don't think that's possible. when i first moved here i thought they were just a dumb gimmick, but then i realized that they went in the water and was pretty impressed.

cool. some friends were trying to explain this to me the other day... now that i've seen some pics i've got to say that this is pretty cool! :D

a jet in the back, eh? that might be more useful for road use.;) :D

yeah, I know I've got it somewhere! *fumbles in his pocket* Ah, well, must have wasted it on that Rolls the other day. My bad, tazo.

ah, the hell with the $235,000 - just give me $6,000 for a new G5 ;)

I'll be really curious to see if any of these make it to the states. I'd love to see one in person. :D

Six thousand?! What are you loading in that thing?! 8 gigs of RAM?!

(Note: It feels good to be able to say that it is possible to load 8 gigs of RAM into a Mac these days)

4 gigs would be fine, but I need dual 20" LCDs...;)

And yes, I am getting this machine, but probably rev B. I'd like to think that I'm one of the few who will actually use the thing to its full potential (I say this cause I know that in reality, its not nearly fast enough to make me happy - doing 3D animation I need something several orders of magnitude faster, maybe in 2010......until then, I'll settle for this).

And if/when I get mine, I'd like to think that I'm one the MANY who will actually use the thing to its full potential of bragging rights...:D

No, I know that in reality, during the school year I'll have little time for anything besides some photoshopping, gonig to a few choice web sites, and writing papers.

A dualie is overkill, and that's why I want one...I might be waiting for Rev. B., too, though.
