I would like to paint the part between the "ear-pads" and the "housings" black. Will this work with spray paint (or an other type of paint)? Or shall I uses pieces of plastic? Will they damage the Beats or will the paint simply come off very easily? What do you recommend (other alternatives are welcome)?

I'm not familiar with the design (perhaps a picture of the bit you want to paint), but painting plastic is tricky. If its shiny plastic, your best of taking the shine of with fine sand paper and then applying an undercoat. Makesure you use the correct type of paint (enamel I think). Probably worth speaking to your local hobbie shop if you decide to go through with it.

It might void your warranty as well (if you have one).
