Hi all,

Excuse me if this has been covered (it's hard to search for), or if it is common knowledge, but:

Is it generally considered certain that iOS 5 will be available as an over-the-air update?

I am about to go on a 3-week trip and only want to take my iPad and iPhone (not computer), but I of course really want iOS 5 as soon as it is available, so I will take my computer with me if needs be.

Many thanks.

I think iOS 5.0 (the first iOS 5 update) will have to be over iTunes. But afterwards, any updates to iOS 5 (such as 5.1 or 5.0.1) will be OTA.

Not a developer here, but I'm pretty sure that's how it will work.

This is correct. iOS 4, except the Apple TV version, does not have support for over the air updates.

Take your computer.

I don't even think you will be able to do an OTA update from the iOS5 Beta to iOS5 GM. But for certain if you only have iOS4 then you will have to download iOS5 through iTunes.
