Hello, I went to an Apple store to buy an iPhone SE for my relative. He is a senior who does not use the internet nor want to learn. He just bought it for taking/receiving calls and perhaps also listening to music (I need to download for him). In this case, is it better to create a new Apple ID for him or use mine? I suppose that if I use mine, my contacts, calendars and some other files/apps will be synced to his iPhone.

Also, is it possible to set up a new Apple ID from a Mac? The SE screen is too small for me.

If you use your Apple ID anything you pick will sync to it. iMessage. Photos. Notes. Safari tabs. Backups. Keychain. Everything. I would suggest you set them up their own.

As for signing up, can easily be done from any computer.

RE: AppleID: Since he won't really buy music, you could set up family sharing so the music you purchase (for him or yourself) can be shared.

You can setup a new AID online with a browser, on a Mac (though I would be tempted to create a separate user account and create it from that account on the Mac. of course, you can create on the SE too.

Thanks. Where do I set up the "family sharing"? I guess I will install less than 5 apps (that I have already paid) on his phone. Does family sharing also allow my app purchase (for him or myself) can be shared?

Family Sharing is setup in iCloud Preferences (Mac or iOS). You enter his AppleID, but need to put your Credit Card on his account as well as yours. If you are going to setup his account with his Credit Card, adding yours as a secondary will ensure his purchases are on his CC. Your CC is the "common thread" that makes Family Sharing possible.

Many apps for Mac and iOS support Family Sharing, but not all. It is irrelevant if they are free, but for purchased apps, it will say whether FS is supported in the App Store. Music you purchase in iTunes will be sharable.
