I heard that different carriers have different versions of 4G. Please tell me, is iPad mini cross-compatible?

In example, if I buy iPad mini + Verizon, would I be able to switch to AT&T / other 3G or 4G carrier (nanoSIM)
without problems?

The Verizon and Sprint one is compatible with AT&T 3G, but not AT&T LTE. The AT&T one won't run on verizon or sprint at all. Both models support 3G internationally but the Verizon one supports a few additional LTE bands internationally.

Basically the verizon one is the most compatible for traveling, and has better LTE coverage in the US.
