Is it healthy to use the macbook pro lid closed?

I have 2010 base model 15" i% MMBP and i love it. I found an application called "insomniax" and it makes your mac not sleep even if the lid is closed. So for example downloading stuff and many more things can be done with lid closed. However keyboard may have some part in cooling. I mean keyboard vents may be cooling the laptop who knows. By closing the lid and still making mac work would i affect it's cooling process causing it to overheat? So obviously my question is is it healthy to use it like that?

I've been using mine closed with an LED Display for over a year now and have had no problems what so ever. Mine is mostly in the closed position (about 80% of the time) except for when I go into the living room or take it to class.

It's fine to run it with the lid closed, known as "clamshell mode". The MBP does not vent through the keyboard. The vents are located at the back of the computer, by the hinge.
