Hello, I'm a master industrial designer student, but I started also working.

Currently I have a MBP 15" retina 2,7 i7, 16gb ram, GeForce 650M 1gb.

I use some 3d modeling and rendering programs and I realized that the power and the dimension of the screen aren't enough if you use it every day for 8h.

An Imac 27" 3,4 i7, 32gbram, GeForce GTX 680MX 2gb could be the solution?

Can I really feel the difference? (especially with the graphic card)

Thanks for your advice:apple:

Trying the MacBook with a bigger display is a good idea. I worked that way for years. However, I recently bought an iMac and am very happy with the experience. I don't do extensive 3D modeling, but 3D programming and Flash programming are very much faster especially with the Fusion drive. The huge display area is great, but with the iMac you can add up to 2 more thunderbolt displays for a truly huge work area.

I picked up an old 23" ACD on Craigslist to use with my MacBook Pro. Feels almost the same as my wife's 21" iMac. I found it to be a good compromise between portability and screen real estate. When at home I use the MBP in clamshell mode with a full size keyboard.
