Is it just me of big PDFs with lots of pictures have much less lag in Preview?

Books with many pictures, especially those big science books with 1000+ pages were a nightmare to read and annotate with Preview. If you scrolled too fast, Preview would lag and many times would crash. In El Capitan it's still lagging but the scrolling between pages is much faster, and new pages load much more smoothly. That's a great improvement in my opinion since Acrobat Reader is just pure garbage.
