Spotlight , One of the best parts of a OS-X

I noticed it to. I jumped from SL to Mavericks on three Mac a few weeks ago. I am a heavy user of Spotlight to start apps, to find contact details, and open documents that I add to monthly, or to find receipts, pdf files or recently scanned documents. Spotlight is not returning things that I routinely used under Snow Leopard.
Has anyone found a fix?? Is there a way to force OS-X to re-index??

Problem solved... Re-Indexing the drive did it.... What a difference.

Under Systems Pref -> Spotlight -> Privacy Tab . Add your drive to the Privacy area, then close System Preferences. Reopen System Preferences go back to the Privacy Tab, and remove your drive. Close System Preferences, then click/or activate the Spotlight icon, you should see indexing is underway.
