Is it normal?

In almost every application on my mac, all the examples e.g. imovie, iweb, have lorem ipsum dolor, is that normal?

Yep, perfectly normal. Lorem Ipsum is dummy text that's been used for centuries by the typesetting industry. It's used specifically because it has a "normal" distribution of letters and is therefore not distracting to the reader when they're looking at the layout
