Is it normal

I just checked my white model (Which is going back to Apple as I got the black one ) and I have to say yes it's normal but I don't like it.
I didn't notice that before, but I can see the dark outline. I am pretty sure thats normal, but I am thankful I got the black one, I made the right decision.
You can exchange it for the black if it bothers you
It's starting to bother me as well.
I have a white 5/ 16GB, how hard is it to exchange for a 32GB black?

Yep, every one I have seen has it too, a friend pointed it out to me and I must admit, it does not bother me one bit.
Lol. I meant I'm also thinking of exchanging for bigger capacity and different color.
Not hard at all, You cannot get a larger GB size though. Unless you pay the extra.
I have the 64 GB in white, so I phoned Apple and said I needed the black. They sent me the black and they still haven't picked the white one up yet.
I don't need both, but they said on the phone "There's no rush getting the other phone back...blah blah" I had to phone up yesterday and get them to send the shipping label, as well as sort a courier out because they are being far too relaxed and slow about it.
If Apple is willing to trust a customer and give them two phones, allowing you to play around with both until you make up your mind. Then that's pretty awesome. So you should have no problems in swapping. Mine came brand new, sealed, direct from China.
As long as you send the other one back. In the USA they will put a Hold on your credit card or account for the money, as insurance against theft. In the UK they don't do this at all.

Thanks for posting this. I see it. It seems the white has somewhat of a transparency and you can clearly see the lcd outline underneath. Are you thinking of going black because of this? To me, it's no big deal.
No I did have white, but then exchanged it for black, still waiting for Apple to pick the white one up.
I have the white 4S and you can see the LCD outline on that one too.
I just preferred black this time around.
I wouldn't worry about the LCD , no one is going to notice it
