Seems like none of my cables fit snuggly into the HDMI port in my mid '14 rMBP. They're all kinda "loose" so to speak, making me scared to move the macbook while the HDMI is in. Now this doesn't bother me much right now because first, I don't really use dual display just clamshell to watch, and second I'm still under warranty.

But this kinda scares me for the future when I'm not under warranty. I just don't want the port to break free from the logic board at some point. Shouldn't they fit snugly together like a USB?

The 3 cables I've used are a samsung cable, generic moonrise cable, and a Twisted Veins cable.

It might be worth taking your computer to an Apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them take a quick look at it. Ports can sometimes vary in how tight or loose the connections are but it shouldn't have a lot of wiggle room or moving beyond a certain degree.

I'm definitely going to do that, because it wiggles a lot. Not enough to break the connection but if I simply pick up the MBP the cable moves left or right and comes out a little bit.

You really shouldn't be picking your Mac up with the hdmi cable attached your just asking for trouble.
