The MacBook Air is in a sleeve, if that makes any difference.

May sound like a strange question, but I’m wondering if magnets or anything would/could damage my MacBook?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

If it’s closed, that’s fine. If the MacBook is open, you want to avoid putting things with magnets on it (or putting it on magnets) because the magnets could trigger the lid sensor into thinking you’ve closed the lid & unexpectedly put it to sleep. I ran into that with a MacBook Air a few years ago; I’d pull it out of the sleeve (with magnetic-close lid) and then put the MacBook ON the sleeve while I worked with it and… yeah :/

Are you saying you did cause damage?

Magnets generally aren’t an issue with computers these days. They are more of a concern when magnetic media is being used (floppy disks, spinning hard drives, backup tape, etc).
