I have the iPhone X and it’s great. Running iOS 12.1.3.

I own a magnetic case so if I drive out of town then I can put it on the holder in my air vent and it’s good for Maps

I also own the Apple leather case and today ordered the Apple silicone case. Both black.

Feel kind of bad. That’s like like over $100 added to the cost of the phone!

You can customize it to your heart content. Different people have different value. I have two different cases I got from Amazon that I tend to switch between on some days. If you value the Apple branded cases, go for it. It depends how long you’ll keep your phone to justify the cost of the cases. I will eventually trade/sell in my device for a newer device so I tend to only get up to two cases.

I also own 3 cases for my XS but ended up using the black apple leather case after trying a Spigen transparent TPU-case and the red apple leather case.
I don’t feel bad at all ;).

Was up to about 7 different cases until apple finally released the battery case.

Maybe that’s why they don’t release at launch, get the suckers who will buy something that day anyway and again a few months later.

I think the question of whether or not money has been wasted is a subjective one. Do you feel that your money has been wasted? The fact that you "feel kind of bad" is an indicator that perhaps more pre-purchase thought might be beneficial in the future. Every situation that we go into should be seen as potential to learn something.

To each their own, but I just go with one case. I can't imagine switching back and forth, plus if I were to go with two cases, I'd get different colors and I'd end up confusing myself anyway.

As for a magnetic case, I have an Apple silicone case for my Xs. I slipped in the metal plate in the case and the magnet still works fine. There's a slight bulge in the case now, but it's not that noticeable and doens't really affect anything, aside from the inability to use induction charging.

Ask yourself, "Does this case bring me joy?" If so, keep it. If not, toss it out.

At least, that's what I've learned this year. (;
Hmm, interesting philosophy. Especially if you bring it into your everyday life. For instance, "does this wife bring me joy" Can't see tossing wives out as being a realistic option.

Haha.

Well, the second part of the philosophy is that you have to keep things around that are utilitarian. :)

I have 11 cases, and I personally feel like it's too many. The good thing is that my parents usually upgrade to a phone that's already been out for a number of years, so they'll probably upgrade to the Xs Max in a couple of years. I can give them some of my cases then.

I have an Apple silicone and Otterbox commuter for everyday use

Just picked up the battery case for when I’m traveling and long days on site at work.

I don’t really feel like I wasted any money.

I have two, maybe three cases (the unused one(s) are in a box on the shelf). Got one for when the phone arrived day one. Did not like, and read some comments here about a nicer case. Got it, was ok, but saw a reference to a different case, similar to #2, just a bit more matte-like on the sides (all are primarily clear cases). Have #3 on since. When it starts getting a bit ratty, will put #2 back on. Good to have a backup, imo, until can replace an old one with something else.

So, no, nothing to feel bad about.

But then, my cases all came off Amazon and were in the $10 range, so, only a few pints at the local watering hole worth of outlay.

"Is it OK?" Why are you asking this? Look, it's your phone and your money, what difference does it make what someone else thinks? You can have one case, you can have 20 cases or even no case at all for your iPhone, and the reality is that it is not going to make a darned bit of difference to anyone else but you. Seriously. No one else is going to care. What makes you think that anyone would?

To answer the question: I have two cases for my iPhone XS, but I actually keep the phone naked at home, just slip her into a case when going out, to provide some protection in the case of a drop or fall. One case is actually the Apple leather folio case that I bought last year for the iPhone X and it is good for protecting the phone's screen as well as the back and other parts. The other case, the one I use most often, is the Apple orange leather one which I also bought last year for the iPhone X. Both of these cases fit both the iPhone X and the iPhone XS. Since I still also have the iPhone X it has been handy at times when I'm taking both phones somewhere (such as when going on a trip) to have protective cases on each of them. I don't feel the need to have a whole bunch of additional cases, these two do very nicely at the times I need them.

Have you noticed that your Apple leather case is creaky after taking it off the phone a couple of times? I bought one for my XS and I also have a X silicone case that I use now and then and ever since I took the leather case off the first time, the fit is no longer perfect. If I squeeze the sides, I can feel some give and it "creaks". Not happy.

We try out what we think can be good, and sometimes time isn't wort it to sell it so we have more then 1 one to keep our phone protected and handy. I have 2 to my current XR. Tried out one type 1st, didn't like it much. So I bought the same kind of wallet I've had to all my earlier iPhones. If someone comes by and need a quite good case I might give the 1st away, or I keep it together with other stuff that I'm not using.

Why not use them to keep your phone warm ;)

It’s okay to have a lot of clothes but I don’t see why you need a lot of cases. But if you can afford it then why not? If it makes you happy then why should anyone else’s opinion matter?

So what, you decided on getting two new dresses for your favourite toy/tool. If it’s a distress to you, cancel your order. Everyone is different with purchases.

I currently have 4 cases and debating getting the Smart Battery case too all for my iPhone X

Sometimes I have different cases for different occasions, smart case when I’m on a night out, one for the gym I dont mind getting sweat etc on and then one for work
