I am clearing up my mac of all the stuff i no longer use. I came across sevral .dmg Is it okay to delete them or will it take the app with it?

Eg if i delete the .dmg will the app still work?

Thanks

If you must mount the DMG to use the application, then yes deleting the DMG file will delete the app.

Usually when installing apps, you mount the DMG, then drag the app to your Applications folder. If the app is in the Applications folder, and you don't need to mount the DMG to use the application, then you can delete the DMG file.

Yes, safe to delete. The .DMG files you are finding are the mounted disks that the application used to install itself (usually by dragging into Applications folder), but not to be able to use the application. Safe to remove, unless the application is still inside the .DMG!
