Is it Posible Daisy Chain Ex. HDD with Ex. SoundCard 800/400 - 1394?

Hello Everyone I am new here.
My Question it's about Daisy Chain between my External Western Digital M y Book Studio with 2 ports FireWire 800 and My External SoundCard with one ports FireWire 400, both of this devices have Power Supply?
I have MACBOOK POR 13 Early 2011 with FireWire port 800 ....
Can I connect Ex. SoundCard to Ex. Hdd with cable 400 to 800 (second port to HDD ) and than connect first of port from HDD to MACBOOK PRO FireWire 800 ? It's this possible to work properly ???

I've daisied my FW800 external with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 and honestly, the IO of the mix control software was painstakingly slow.

I was outputting the sound with an optical cable from the MBP so I can't say anything on latency or sound problems when using it with the FW.
