I've noticed that the Sprint model is actually the one with the most LTE supports, and I'm wondering if it's possible to pay full price for a Sprint iPhone at the store and not have it activate on site?

Has anyone done this before, for previous iPhone launches? And would the device be unlocked if I paid in full and not have it activated into a contract?

I'm looking to use this phone for T-Mobile as well as during my travel to greater China. During the iPhone 5 launch, all the paid in full phones that weren't activated in store were in fact unlocked; that's how I got an unlocked AT&T model but I'm really unfamiliar with Sprint.

Thanks for all your help.

Sorry it was a good idea from a technical point of view but Sprint never allows its iPhones to be unlocked for domestic use EVEN if you buy it outright!

That is why the Sprint versions have much less resale value! :(

ah bummer.. The Sprint one is identical to the HK version, which is sold unlocked. I don't know why Apple wouldn't use the Sprint/HK/International model for all other carrier as well. :(
