Is it possible to disable EDGE?

So after 2.02, my phone sits on EDGE most of the time, especially in areas where I was getting full bars of 3G before. Since Apple can't seem to fix this **** properly, is there a way for me to disable EDGE entirely on my phone? I live in a completely 3G area, and have no need for it. I never talk on my phone, I only use it for texting and data... any ideas?
