Is it possible to do this with the iTunes/App Store

I am from the UK and have a UK iTunes store account.

I was given a $50 iTunes gift card (obviously US store only).

Can I use a different email address to "redeem" this gift card and open a US itunes store account to download apps/ibooks etc WHILST STILL BEING IN THE UK and providing a UK ADDRESS in the setting up of this new account?

And if so, when I log onto this new account with my iPhone 4, will it stay as the US store or will it not let me do this? There are some medical books on iBooks that are being given away for FREE to US users (but not anywhere else for some reason). However the page to download them is only accessible through iOS4, not computer & iTunes. I'd like to access them from my iPhone on this new US account and get them if possible.

Anyone help me out with an answer?

You'll need a valid U.S. address during registration. However, this can be any address in the states, so feel free to use that of a hotel or something. Myself, I use Apple's own address.
