I have a question about an external hard drive that I used with my old MBP. Considering the fact that it has things from the snow lion OSX, which eventually included errors. I don't think I actually need anything on it anymore because I used senuti to retrieve my iPod songs.

Can I erase the external hard drive and reset it to factory settings? I don't want to put the errors accidentally.

Thank you. :)

Sure, you can use Disk Utility to reformat the drive, wiping it clean.

Just plug it into your computer, open Finder>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility

On the left side of the application find the external disk you want to erase, select it and then click the erase button.

Thank you, you three! So when I "plug" it in for the first time, it won't start to automatically do anything? Unless I "tell" it to?

It will not start anything besides Mac OS X asking you, if you want to use the HDD for Time Machine, to which you answer what you want.
