If there would ever be people on this planet that would know, I'd imagine it would be here...

I absolutely cannot live without the "old" Movies app... the one that changed to include family sharing, Apple TV, etc.... it's something I can't deal with for what I do and how I do it (long story, not important).

I have the largest iPad Pro in the 128GB version, which is my main machine, which I don't update just to keep the old movies app. My question is this- is it possible, with trial and error (like, should I even look) to find a 256GB version that might still have an old enough version of IOS that it might still have the original Movies app? Or were the 256 Pro's shipped with a version of IOS that already had the new "TV" app installed?

To be clear, this is in reference to the largest sized Pro iPad. 12.9" or whatever it is.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: never mind, I guess it's completely unavailable now in 10.3.1.

Right, but if i find a new one that wasn't opened is it possible some shipped with the older version?
iOS 10.2 first included the new TV app, so you'd need to try to track down a version older than that. It'll be tough to do that at this point. It'll be less expensive to investigate other video players. There's no way to know which version of iOS is included on a given device when you buy it unless you're getting one used.

Since not all markets are pushed with TV app, you probably can register another account in regions like Australia to get the old "video" app. Don't know if both could coexist though.

You will need a lot of luck there, time to schedule some time to find shops and sellers selling 2nd hand iPads and hope that they allow you to check the version of the app (this is in case they updated the app but not iOS) before they sell

I had somewhat a similar situation weeks back when I needed an iPad to be in iOS 7 (see my thread about it), asked around and realised that it would be an uphill struggle as most people have already updated to iOS 8 onwards. I took the much expensive but feasible method by simply getting another iPad for anything beyond iOS 7 and keeping my current iPad on iOS 7.

It will be very tough, especially when 12.9 inch models are still be sought after but yet the supply does not seem to increase.

WOW! I never would have even thought about this! I will look into this for sure! Thanks!

I'm in Australia and my 12.9" is on iOS 10.3.1 and the app is called "Videos". At first, I could not see family sharing in the app, but I've discovered that I can enable it in the Settings app (under Videos), then a "shared" heading/tab appears at the top.
I didn't realise that this feature could potentially go away with future updates, that would not be cool.
I wonder if the device region settings influence the app that is available?

I posted into one of your other several threads on this but the Videos app is again available in 10.3.1 after disappearing for a while, so you really don't need a whole new iPad to use it.

IMG_0811.jpg Why not just download it from the App Store?

Yes, or op would be able to find it.
OP didn't mention searching for it. I only said it because I've read of other users downloading it but it vanished off their devices after a reboot, can't find the source but I do remember reading it. No need to get snarky

Yeah, and a cruel, new bit of info.... not only does the app look like it's the old version when you restart your iPad, but as soon as you use it then it changes to the TV app. Thank you for all the comments on this, folks- this really helps me to see that there is no workaround, or if there would be. I love this site just for this reason. I've switched to using my old iPad Pro for now, it's only 128GB of storage, but at least the app for Movies and OneNote (another redesign that was disasterous in the latest update) are both the older versions. Apple should really give us the chance to opt out of the new app, since myself and I'm assuming many other people have a fortune invested in iTunes movies and tv shows based on the ease of the old app.

And if you change location to other country? The TV app should become video app...
Here in Portugal we simply have Videos, but if I change region settings to US I reboot and get TV and Apple News
