Is it possible to force iTunes to mount a device over WiFi?

My problem in a nutshell: my devices will not appear in iTunes over WiFI after I have used VPN for an internet connection. The only way to get iTunes to see the devices after quitting the VPN application is to restart my Mac. LAME!! Surely there is a better way?

Anyone know? Is there anything I can zap in the Activity Monitor (as suggested in the link above)? Quitting the “AppleMobileDeviceHelper” doesn't fix it. :(
