Even if there was a waterproof iPhone 11, that doesn't mean Some type of failure couldn't happen. Water resistance is merely a layer of protection against accidents.

Hasn’t actual testing shown the iPhone 8 to be past IP67? I think it compares well to Samsung’s offerings in this regard.
