Lets say I left the back cover open of the iPhone 4 and had a few spare batteries would it be possible to keep changing them? I heard somewhere it'll ask to connect to iTunes so lets say I have my laptop with me, would that be okay?

You can keep changing the battery as I do it, the issue you encounter is the battery will default to 01.01.1970 so you'll be time travelling and unable to connect to apps like twitter as certifificates will become invalid by date.

You can correct this by setting time manually to right time until you plug into Itunes again.

No you can't change the batery. Apple solders the battery to the iphone so end users have to pay to get it replaced. All other phones have easy removable batteries.

You don't know anything about the Iphone 4 do you, Iphone 4 has a removable battery just a screw stopping its easy release which can just be unscrewed.
