I have an iPhone 12. Getting the 14 Pro in about a month.

I have a fairly large number of songs on my phone and many of them were not purchased through iTunes. They’re on a PC.

What I usually do when I get a new phone is use an iCloud backup. Then I have to sync using iTunes on my PC to get all my music on the new phone. Problem is the PC is very old and I’m not sure it will even turn on anymore. And the operating system is very old.

Is there a way to get all the music on my current phone to the new phone without using the PC?

Thanks.

I’ve used it and it moved all my data. However, I don’t have music that is only synced from a pc. I use Apple Music

Music library will not be supported by backup restore, as historically those are not part of the backup and thus require you to have your PC to sync music back.
Time to repair your PC and backup data from it.

Thanks for your reply. It almost sounds like I’ll have to buy a new computer just to keep my music library alive anytime I get a new phone.

Part of the reason many folks want to go with Apple Music because they dont want to do this anymore.
However going all out with streaming services also have its own downsides. Namely the ability to listen to the same song perpetually is permanently gone. And better curation of the song (only You know what’s best for you). And offline experience. Like truely offline. Also large files for higher quality music playback. Convenience comes at a cost. It’s up to each one of us to decide which one worth the trade off.

When I upgraded from my 13PM to my 14PM the phone to phone quick transfer moved my entire music library with no issues.

That cost is £10.99 per month, lol. I signed up to the 3 month “trial” discounted to one month and loved Apple Music. I ended creating a 15 hour playlist and everything worked seamlessly. I ended the subscription after 3 months and went without for one month before Apple gave me another 3 months of Apple Music for £10.99… I am now good until Feb 2023.

Some are saying that their libraries did transfer but not sure if they have Apple Music that is matching their songs?
I OTOH, used to have CD'S ripped into iTunes but many transfers and computers later, don't have access without ripping all those files again. The trade off is worth it for me to keep a subscription for sure.

Services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify and Tidal all do have offline music downloading/listening but as for your "truly offline"... it can't be of course, unless the subscription stays active. I agree that isn't "true offline" since it's dependent on a subscription. If the media is also completely pulled from the app altogether, it could get auto offloaded or deleted, I'd assume. Rental vs. ownership.

Thats some interesting cost saving tactics. Interesting.
Still, I wont rent content, especially for the ones I like. The lower upfront cost lure will add up and I will end up paying more in the long run.
I can’t stop but imagine what if those content creators lobby the government To outlaw media ownership.

Thanks for the link. It doesn’t mention all the different data types moved with the direct transfer. Do you have experience with this method? Does it move absolutely everything over? Thanks.
Yes it transfer everything. Just put them side by side and then it connects via wifi between two iPhones. Pics, videos, songs all transfer. Pretty amazing stuff given I use to activate iPhones via iTunes (and using this the jailbreak unlock iPhones), and having to transfer everything from computer to phone. Those were the days.

You know I had Spotify for a few months using student discount. Then I realized I’m basically playing songs I own but paying a monthly fee. I’d rather put $5 aside each month and buy songs as they come about.

I got my PC turned on and made a thousand updates. It took forever. So if the direct transfer doesn’t work, I reckon I can sync with the elderly laptop. Thanks for all the replies.
