There's a piece of dust thats stuck under the homescreen button area and it's annoying me to no end. Is there a way I can remove the piece of dust safely?

Your description of the problem is not very clear, but compressed air is probably your only option anyways unless you want to disassemble your phone.

Compressed Air isn't working because the dust/lint is under the screen

base on your info, it's seen like this little piece of dust stuck between LCD & digitizer. you will need few tools to take the phone apart. It is not that hard to take the Iphone apart. All you need is little phillip screw driver & suction cup to do take this little piece of dust out.

To be honest, I'm afraid I'm going to mess something up
If I went to the Apple store, would they be able to take the piece of dust out or is this something I have to do on my own?
