I am an ex-Mac user and not had one since a Mac SE and really miss the experience and fed up with Microsoft.
I would purchase an iMac to replace a Dell running XP. I own a small recuiting firm and use the computer 90% of the time for business (not a creative user).
The tricky part is I will be using VMware fusion with XP to access a pure web based recruiting software application for my business that only can be accessed by (IE7) Internet explorer 7 for my business. Being its my business and I need a stable alternative. Is it possible to rent a Mac (laptop or iMac) to try for a month?

Thanx!

It might be possible, depending on your area. There is a company here in the UK that offers rental services, so such a service may well exist near you too. Try doing a google search, see what comes up.

As a business, you could contact Apple Enterprise Sales, explain your situation, and they may be able to lease you one for a short period.

Good sugestion and you would think so but they do not. Being I am in the NY Metro area I am trying to find a Mac software consultant who may consider a $100 for 3-4 week rental? Thanx

Some Photography rental houses rents Macs.

Renting a month might be expensive.

Why not just buy a refurb iMac $999 from apple?

If you look for computer repairs shops and resellers you'll probably find a place that will let you rent a Mac. I had a client who did this on various occasions when he had a short term need for an additional computer. It wasn't cheap though, at least not here in Los Angeles

refurb?

Exactly what I was thinking. Buy refurb, use, resell...

despite the fact that its a refurb. Whats the down side of buying it that way? If they are safe, I can give it to my 9 year old daughter who would LOVE the idea!
Thanx for the idea.

Refurbs come with the same warranty as a new system. Also note that refurbs are checked, likely in ways that new pieces are not, so as to avoid them the expense of honoring a future warranty claim. They are also cheaper.

I always try to buy refurbished anythings and I've never been disappointed.

Yes, you can rent a mac.

I work for a company that does mac rentals for businesses, and we have offices in NYC, New Jersey, Long Island and all over the country. You'd have to go to Jersey if you want to pick it and save on the delivery cost in the NYC Metro Area. We can do g5, powerbooks, macbook pros, and we have a big inventory of various size screens, specs etc. We'll even pre-load software on it if you need us too. I don't think we are the cheapest computer rental out there but we are definitely the biggest and the best. I'd give you a ballpark price but I'm not in sales. you can send a web quote for a mac computer rental from our site and find out or call 866.416.1800. Remember we only rent to businesses but if you are self employed or have a small business it should be cool. :apple:

Exactly what I was going to say. Get yourself an inexpensive refurb from the Apple Store, use it for however long you need, and then sell/trade/gift it after you're done. If you sell it on eBay after you're done, you're probably only looking at a $100 hit anyway.
