Hi all,

I am in my last semester of uni, almost finished and I have lost a large chunk of one of my major assessments!

What I was wondering is, if it is possible to retrieve a file after microsoft word has asked to save, and I have not saved? Does this automatically rewrite the file or am I able to use some sort of software to retrieve a backup or autosave file somewhere?

I have tried many of the suggestions in searching online such as looking for backup and autosave files etc, but can't find anything on my computer except for the one that should've been replaced with the new version!
I am using an ibook G4 which is about 5 years old, running on OSX Extended (Journaled)? In my word preferences I had the "save autorecovery info every 5 mins" box ticked, but not the "always create a backup copy" one, which I have a bad feeling isn't going to help me!

Basically what I want to know is if there are good free progs out there that can help me with this, or if it is worth taking my ibook to a mac store/specialist? If there is no chance I guess I'll just have to rewrite my assignment but I just want to know because of course I don't want to do it all over again, I'm exhausted!

Hope that isn't too much of a torrent of info, but if anyone can help me THANKYOU, you will save me from pulling my hair out and going off the eat cookies or something.
