I have a 2017 MacBook with 512GB and I’ve moved on to a Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I don’t think it really get anything for my MacBook because it has a small ding on its corner. Is there a way I could make it run with the lid closed, plug it into the router, and make my own file server? Nor for media but PDFs, word documents, etc? Something I could access when traveling and pull/push a couple files to but without syncing everything? I don’t want it to be like Dropbox where I have to keep everything on my computer. I could plug an external drive if u ever needed the extra space then if I ever did want to take the Mac with me I’d still have it. Since I’ve gotten the x1 Carbon I have t even touched it it’s just been on the shelf.

You definitely could set it up as a server - just setting up file sharing might do the trick for what you want - but I just looked on eBay and it looks like you could get $500+ for it still
