Is it possible to uncompact messages in Apple Mail? I need them back on the server.

I unthinkingly said yes when Apple Mail offered to save me space by deleted messages from the server and somehow compacting them on my Mac. Unfortunately I need them on the server so am hoping to undo that process but I cannot figure out a way.

I use Proton Mail if that complicates/helps at all.
