So I recently have been on a hunt for a new screensaver and I came across this one:
While I know itd look good on a modern mac I'd love to see my last.fm scrobbles on the crt of my g3. The source code is all on that github page and the programmer is working on making it work with later systems but not earlier systems. Would it be possible, though, to make it work on an older system like 10.4? Thanks and reagards,
Thomas

I glanced at the code and it uses a lot of the api only found in newer os versions. It'd need a rewrite and even then a lot of the newer views have no direct equivalent in leopard or tiger. Someone would have to reimplement them from scratch.

Possible? Sure. But it'd be a tremendous amount of work for a screensaver.

Thats a shame, though it does use brew which was ported to tiger. Idk, I do trust your word more than mine so the installation probably doesnt make that much of a difference to the api used

Yeah homebrew is just a package manager. And tigerbrew is a version of it that runs on ppc with a curated list of packages that have the ability to also compile under PPC.

So it being listed under homebrew doesn't mean it can automatically compile under PPC/Leopard. Someone at some point still has to do the legwork to actually resolve the api differences and make it happen.
