Is it really worth buying the MBPs with 9600 video card ?

Hi all...my MBP's 8600 screwed itself last week...I was looking to sell it off and buy a new 15 MBP....but this article here got me wondering :

So it looks like NV is yet to fix its c**p....this also means that it is risky buying the 9600 MBPs....as per the article...the 9400 is pretty 'safe'...

It looks like NVidia has taken out the 'Pro' out of the MBP...

thoughts anyone? any current 9600 MBP owners facing any issues??

I couldn't say, although I too saw that article.

However, if you look at the iMac's that were just refreshed, (with the exception of the nVidia integrated graphics card) they don't use nVidia at all. It's entirely possible that we'll see Apple move the MBP's back over to using ATI cards in the next refresh as well.

I haven't see the same issues as with the 8600 on the 9600s, despite what that rag of so-called journalism says. Just a check on this board will reveal that people are simply not having the same problems.

i guess only time will tell whether the 9600s are faulty or not....
at least now i have a good reason to wait for the refreshed MBPs....

The 9600M GT is ancient tech by now, no point in buying a laptop with it anyway, not at MBP prices.
