is it safe for me to turn off my computer if itunes is downloading?

I was wondering since I just am downloading some shows right now and I want to turn off my computer for the night. Will itunes resume the downloading when I turn it back on the next morning?

They will start re-downloading after your hit "Check for Purchases" but I'm not sure if they will pick-up where they left off
