Hi, I think I read that Java caused security issues. Is it really true? Is it safe to install Java 8 on the Mac?

What do you plan to do with it?
Installing Java to run a local application does not cause more security issues than running any local application would. Just stay away from the Browser-Plugin, thats where you might open yourself to security issues.

Java in the Browser is pretty much dead anyway.

Thanks. I want to use Angry IP Scanner that requires installation of Java 8 or AdoptOpenJDK. Is it better not to do it? Any other good scanner that scan the IP address of devices connected to my network at home?

Personally I use nmap for stuff like that, but it is mainly a commandline-tool so its probably not as easy to use
