I know, I know, you can never be too sure. But still there has to be a few tips. I mean since you're getting stuff from someone elses computers, what can they do? Also is there anyways we can scan downloads for malware and viruses? I think that would be most useful. I also don't like the whole getting it off someone else's computer thing. Any tips would be helpful (aside from reading comments I already knew that), especially about scanning.

EDIT: Sorry guys I didn't realize. I can't figure out how to delete this thread, though if it is now in the green please don't. If it's still inappropriate, please delete it. I hope this doesn't reflect too badly on me. If you still have the answer though I'd love one.

Example: Downloading a game off pirate's bay? Maybe something that has stars and crafts and 1 in it?

First off, we'll just assume you are talking about downloading only legal stuff, such as linux ISO's. Since talk of pirating software is against the rules. For the most part using torrents is safe. However, get an antivirus that will do on-demand scanning. When a download finishes, scan it before you open it. Also, read the comments on the page, other downloaders will generally let you know if its crap/virus/broken.

What is a virus program I could use? Could you be more specific in your answers? Thanks.
