Hi, it is not available from Apple App Store so I downloaded it from the company website https://timingapp.com

After I dragged it to the Applications folder, it asked me to grant control rights to accesss Safari. Is it safe to do it? Will it take the passwords I enter to Safari?

Hi Hajime,

Daniel here, the founder of Timing.

Timing's purpose is to tell you how much time you spend on each individual app, document and website. To recognize which website you are spending time on right now, Timing needs to ask Safari for the website's URL and title.

As explained when you first launch Timing, this will trigger the permission dialog that you mentioned. This is only to record the current website URL and title; Timing will never record the passwords you enter into Safari.

In addition, your tracking data will never even leave your Mac unless you explicitly sign up for our sync service. And even when you use our sync service, you will be the only person able to see your data. For more information, please have a look at our privacy policy.

Best,
Daniel Alm
