Is this true? Heard the plug is different and it will kill the phone :eek:
 
It will not hurt your iPhone 4. The iPhone 3G dock connector is the exact same as the iPhone 4. It will even work all the way down to the 3G iPod.
 
The USB sync cable for the iPhone 3G/3GS/4, iPod Touch and iPad are the same exact part number in Apple's system so yes, you CAN use your 3G USB cable with your iPhone 4.
 
With no case my old cables work perfectly fine with the iPhone 4. However, with an Apple Bumper on some of the older Apple cables and third party cables don't fully engage. Simple to fix though - just trim some of the bumper case around the dock connector, cables now fully engage, and it's not even visible so you have not ruined the aestics of the bumper.
