Is it true that Oregon will have sales tax starting 2008?

I heard that Oregon will have sales tax starting 2008. Is that true?

I'm planning to get a MBP around Feb 2008 when I'm in Portland. Someone please enlighten me.

The governor mentioned it as an option as part of an overhaul of Oregon's tax system, but he has backed away from it. The residents of Oregon have rejected sales tax proposals many times now and I highly doubt they'll be approving one anytime soon.

I liked not having sales tax when I lived in Oregon. The price you saw was the price you paid.

Oregon just turned down a tax on cigarettes no less.There won't be any sales taxes in Oregon for a long time.
