Is it typical for Mac to announce new hardware with a software release?

I'm planning to buy a Mac very soon for school. I would probably buy one right now if I knew that Mac wasn't planning on updating the notebooks. In the past, has Apple updated hardware while releasing an OS update? Thanks for your advice.

I doubt it. they dont usually release hardware with software
