i found someone whos selling a 3.5 year old 23" cinema for 500

should i buy it?

I would ask for pictures, and see if it is has no blemishes or anything in the screen.

there's supposedly no scratches or anything

should i be concerned about brightness, etc?

so should i get a dell 2408wfp instead if i can get it for around 550?

I also wouldn't get that display. I owned one for a short time, and could not stand the ghastly input lag. Now some may not notice it, but to me (and others) it's very apparent. But then you could always return it if it's not to your satisfaction...

I wouldn't. If it's 3.5 years old, that means it's not the newest 23" that was refreshed in 2006 to increased brightness etc. $500 for an old model is quite steep.

Agreed. Nice deal, but I wouldn't pay $500 for an old generation model. I'd rather pay extra and get a newer one.

$500 is too much. $250 would be more appropriate. But $300 would buy you a new monitor from someplace other than Apple. If you want an Apple branded display, and I do understand the reasons for wanting this, $500 is too much for a monitor of that age.
