Can dead pixels multiply over the long run and create a problem for the screen ? Is the dead pixels covered by the one year hardware warranty by Apple. I am not in the 14 day return period.

I would think it should be covered by the warranty. Take it to the Genius Bar and ask.

As others have said it appears it bothers you so return it. LCD panels for the most part are quite reliable and most don't have pixel issues. They tend to suffer more from backlight bleeding. I also vote to wait for the new iPad which should be announced this month.

Nah, not reason for that. The 4 is a fine device. Just take it back and get one without a dead pixel.

its a fine device but its dumb to not wait a few weeks to have something that will be more future proof. This ipad wont be getting as many features as the new updated chip in the next few years. So why not wait a few weeks for something that will last longer?

It may or may not lead to more dead pixels. I would suggest you return it while it is still in your return period because there was a leaked internal Apple document a while back stating that Apple would only warranty the iPad for an exchange if there were more than 3 dead pixels. If you're unlucky and get an employee that's a stick in the mud, you're out of luck.

Really don't understand you now by reading some of your other posts. You mentioned in another thread you have the iPad 3, not the iPad 4, which you now say you have, and you are out of the return window.

Than another post you ask when will the iPad 5 be reduced in price, and by how much, when are they placed in the refurbished section, and are trying to get answers on how to accomplish in getting the iPad 5 for nothing. Me thinks you don't have money to spend, and are not happy unless you have the latest and best that will cost more. So I don't know what you are up to, and this is now confusing.

Here's another one with a question about iOS updated for an iPad 3 you are asking about.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1644596/

You are some what confusing, so OP which ipad do you have ? iPad 3 or 4 and if its the 3 you don't have a return window period for the one pixel issue unless you have AppleCare +, which I don't think you do

One other aspect to consider is that this will affect resale value, if that is a possibility.

I suppose so. OK. ;)

I would (and have) returned for that. This close to the iPad 5, I would wait it out if you can.

My iPad 4 is still within its return window and I am debating on returning it for the 5. I haven't decided since I got such a gray deal. $379 and two $25 iTunes gift cards.

If the iPad 4 has a retina display, wouldn't that make it impossible to see a single dead pixel from a normal viewing distance?

Definitely return it. When apple charges premium prices, you should expect premium products.
