I recently bought a late 2008 Unibody MacBook.

The person I got it from upgraded the ram to a Crucial 4GB ram.

Is it worth upgrading to an OWC 8GB ram or would it not make much of a difference?

Depends on what you use your computer for. It's probably not going to matter.

I don't really do anything heavy on it, I mainly use it for the internet, music, films, Microsoft Office and Adobe CS6 so I guess it won't make a difference performance wise then.

Fire up Activity Monitor and click on 'System Memory'.

If you run out of free memory and have lots of swap used (over a couple hundred MB), get more RAM!
